Thormundar - By the Light of the Boreal Sky

"Though short of stature, Annikka's courage and strength towered over even the highest mountains."

This painting was originally a sketch done for fun, borne from a desire to draw a panda doing something. Somehow, it grew slightly out of proportion into this. I've always had a fascination with depicting the night sky and all the fun things that happen there, and the Aurora Borealis is to this day something I want to witness with my eyes. For the lighting scheme, I feared that with the light source coming primarily from the back, Annikka's front would be obscured, and I introduced a secondary warm glow to light the front (and to add a warm zone for the colours).
