Thormundar - Rowan, Companion of the Lost

"Now, let's find ourselves a chance of glory, eh?"

Inspired by the new Magic expansion of Kaldheim, I wanted to paint one of my OCs, Rowan, on the plane since there was a wealth of quasi-Norse designs in the set. I devised the background to not call upon any specific spot in Kaldheim, but rather a small set of architectural elements with a complex knotwork structure that calls back to the Norse roots of Kaldheim. The spirits following Rowan were pretty fun to paint; they however had to be adjusted that their hues would not overpower the scene. They were also painted with a softer brush to serve as a contrast to Rowan, who was painted mostly using a Chalk brush.
